We believe that the fight against counterfeiting begins with the education of young people. That is why we willingly supported the initiative of the International Trademark Association (INTA) called the Unreal Campaign.
As part of the Unreal Campaign, inhouses from the world's leading corporations meet with students in different countries to discuss the threats of counterfeiting, make fresh suggestions to combat it, and plant the idea in the minds of teenagers that each individual decides whether or not to buy counterfeit products.
On May 17, 2021, the first Russian Unreal Campaign was held in the conference hall of Rospatent, which was attended by students from leading Moscow universities, representatives of Rospatent, intellectual property lawyer of Oracle Corporation Todd Adler (USA), Novartis Pharmaceuticals inhouse Deirdre Clarke (Switzerland), head of the Unreal Campaign Lorenzo Litta (Italy).
Dmitry Markanov, Managing Partner of PATENTUS, moderated the meeting and initiated the discussion. The meeting was held in English, which gave participants a chance to practice listening and speaking with foreign speakers.
A recording of the meeting is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbkIXTK5Khs
Unusual for the participants was a tour of the Rospatent's library with the guide's comments on the most interesting exhibits.
The May 17 meeting was the first of a series we planned in Russia as part of the Unreal Campaign.
