Until streaming services return to Russia and demand that the platform remove pirated versions of movies and TV series, the video hosting is not obliged to stop distributing it.
Protecting copyright and related rights is the burden of copyright holders, and foreign majors and streaming services that have left Russia probably do not request from the video hosting to remove illegal content, suggests Alina Emkuzheva, a Dispute Resolution Lawyer at Patentus Patent Bureau: “Accordingly, until they return to Russia and demand that the platform remove pirated versions of movies and TV series, the video hosting is not obliged to stop distributing it.”
